The Life You Want Will Cost the Life You’re Currently Living
This morning on The Morning Charge, we talked about a hard truth that a lot of people do not want to face:
The life you want will cost the life you’re currently living.
A lot of people say they want peace, freedom, order, healing, growth, and deeper maturity in God. But at the same time, they are still holding onto the same patterns, the same comforts, the same excuses, and the same old ways of living that keep producing the same fruit.
You cannot step into a new life while protecting the old one.
That was the heart of today’s teaching.
We talked about how everybody wants the fruit, but not everybody wants the death that comes before it. We want breakthrough, but we do not always want surrender. We want the promises of God, but we do not always want to let go of the habits, mindsets, and comforts that are standing in the way.
The truth is, growth in God will cost you something. It will cost you pride. It will cost you comfort. It will cost you old patterns. It will cost you the version of yourself that keeps resisting surrender.
But what God brings forth is always greater than what He asks you to lay down.
A Few Things to Reflect On
- What part of my current life am I still trying to protect?
- What patterns are keeping me from the life I say I want?
- Where is God asking me to die to self?
- What comfort has become a barrier to obedience?
