What Keeps the Fire Burning?
This morning on The Morning Charge, we talked about a simple but needed question…
What keeps the fire burning?
A lot of people want the fire of God in their life, but they do not want the lifestyle that keeps that fire alive. The truth is, fire does not stay strong by itself. It has to be tended, fed, and protected. Today’s teaching focused on the difference between having one moment with God and living in a way that can actually sustain what He is doing.
One of the biggest takeaways was this: the fire of God is maintained ONLY by stewardship. We talked about how the fire is fed through the Word, kept alive through prayer, strengthened by abiding in Jesus, and protected by obedience. We also touched on holiness, community, and first love, because fire fades when people drift into routine and stop returning to the heart of loving Jesus above everything else.
Another strong part of the teaching was this reminder… if you want sustained fire, you need a sustained lifestyle. Not just one powerful service on Sunday morning or an emotional moment at the altar. Sustained fire comes from being in your Word, prayer, surrender, obedience, and connection DAILY with the Lord.
A Few Things to Reflect On
- What has been feeding the fire in my life lately?
- Am I trying to live off yesterday’s encounter?
- Have I drifted from first love into routine?
- What do I need to tend more intentionally this week?
