When God Shakes Your Life, Don’t Resist It
There are seasons when it feels like everything around us is moving.
Plans change. Relationships shift. Emotions surface that we thought were long gone. Doors close unexpectedly. Things that once felt secure suddenly seem uncertain.
Our first instinct is usually to ask, “God, why is this happening?”
But what if the shaking isn’t meant to destroy you?
What if it’s meant to reveal what can never be shaken?

God Shakes What Isn’t Built on Him
Throughout Scripture, we see that God doesn’t shake our lives because He’s angry. He shakes them because He loves us too much to leave us where we are.
Hebrews 12 reminds us that God shakes what can be shaken so that what is built on Him will remain.
That changes everything.
Many of us spend years trying to hold together things God is actually trying to loosen.
Old wounds.
Fear.
Control.
Bitterness.
Compromise.
Wrong priorities.
When God begins exposing those areas, our tendency is to suppress them again instead of surrendering them.
But healing begins where surrender starts.
The Fire and the Shaking Work Together
One of the biggest truths from this Morning Charge is that the shaking and the fire aren’t competing—they’re working together.
The shaking reveals.
The fire removes.
God isn’t trying to burn away who He created you to be.
He’s burning away everything that never belonged there in the first place.
That means the fear you’ve carried doesn’t define you.
Neither do your failures.
Neither do the labels others placed on your life.
God’s desire is to refine you until what remains looks more like Jesus.
Repair the Altar First
One of the most powerful biblical pictures comes from 1 Kings 18, where Elijah repaired the altar before the fire ever fell.
That’s still God’s pattern.
Before we’re asking God for more fire…
More anointing…
More purpose…
More influence…
We should first ask:
Has the altar of my own life been repaired?
Romans 12 reminds us to present ourselves as living sacrifices.
That means surrender isn’t a one-time decision.
It’s a daily lifestyle.
Don’t Grieve What God Is Removing
Sometimes the hardest part of following Jesus is letting go of things we thought we needed.
A relationship.
A career path.
A comfort zone.
A dream.
Yet many times, what feels like loss is actually God’s protection.
If God closes a door, we can trust that He sees what we cannot.
Rather than grieving everything He’s removing, we can begin thanking Him for what He’s preserving.
That’s where peace begins.
Let This Season Produce Something New
Every shaking presents a choice.
We can cling tighter to what is temporary…
Or surrender it and allow God to produce something stronger.
Maybe God is exposing something you’ve tried to bury for years.
Maybe He’s inviting you back to your first love.
Maybe He’s asking you to stop surviving and start surrendering.
Whatever He’s revealing, don’t ignore it.
Bring it to the altar.
Because what survives God’s refining process is exactly what He intended to build all along.
